A dozen bites to the perfect smile

You can see it from up to 300 feet away. As the most easily recognisable facial expression in the world, it’s no surprise that a smile is one of the best ways to tell people how you feel.

Even a smile flashed for just a tenth

of a second may have an effect on someone without them knowing they saw anything at all.

Here are 12 lite bites on how to take that smile further.

  1. A bronzer can create greater contrast between your skin tone and your teeth to make teeth appear brighter. Draw a number 3 down both side of your face: temples, the hollow of your cheeks, and chin.
  2. Eat strawberries. The high percentage of folic acid in them can help clean your teeth and rid them of impurities!
  3. Relax. Breathing in and out relaxes face muscles so you can muster up a more natural smile.
  4. Try showing a little bit of teeth when smiling if you’ve got a fuller-bodied upper lip. But if you’ve got a thinner one, smile so the bottom edges of your upper teeth touch your lower lip.
  5. Invest in red lipstick with a blue undertone. It’ll bring out the white in your teeth for a brighter smile!
  6. Posing for a photo? First, press your tongue onto the roof of your mouth, show eight teeth, then, wait for the snap!
  7. Know your angles and work them. Most people don’t have perfect facial symmetry, so tilting your head as you smile for photos may give you a more flattering angle.
  8. Put some lipgloss on over your lipstick to give your smile extra volume and a little oomph!
  9. Keep your ‘smile muscles’ in tiptop condition. Flex them daily by stretching your mouth out and holding it for 5 seconds. Repeat 10-12 times.
  10. Try lip pucker aerobics. Give your lips a firm pucker, then pull them back into the mouth and wrap them over your teeth. Hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 to 6 times.
  11. Plump and perfect your lips by brushing them for 15 seconds. Say goodbye to flaky dead skin and hello to a gorgeous pout.
  12. An apple a day keeps the dentist away? Munch on crisp apples. They have just the right amount of abrasiveness to scour your pearly whites clean."
